Stay Away: Company Fell Apart Under Byron Briggs AIT has been a horrible service to work with. I started with AIT around 15+ years ago to simply register my URL names. When I started a business in 2019, I decided to use them for hosting my main website, and for building a custom marketing site that needed some underlying programming. Here's how all this went:
1. Byron Briggs, the CFO, gave me an estimate of between $1200 to $1800 to build and do the programming for my "special" marketing site. Said it would take perhaps 1 to 3 months. Results:
Took 9 months and cost $4800. Plus, the system over the next couple of years constantly had problems. Apparently, there was only one programmer--located in Romania--that actually knew how to do the work. So, besides costing a fortune to get this thing going relative to the original quote, I never had smooth functioning and no proper support.
2. Main Business website: They put together a simple website with an OK design, but poor functionality. It was an ecommerce site, so reliability was critical. This is where they failed miserably. One Friday, with the weekend coming up, my website crashed. I emailed and messaged my contact there, Rachel, as well as Byron. I was promised that the site would be back up within the afternoon. However, this didn't happen. They all went home and left my site down for the whole weekend.
Going forward, the above experience was more or less how things went, but overall, things bumbled along. However, then Rachel left the company in early 2021 and there seemed to be no one else there to do anything or give support. I had to work with a person named Stephen Jones, who was completely useless. Byron Briggs, basically went AWOL and my site constantly had intermittent problems with little proper support.
In April 2021, I hired an outside internet design firm and had them create a nice Wordpress layout to give to AIT to put together. All was done to Byron Brigg's specifications. However, after months of dithering, nothing ever got done. My main contact knew nothing about how website worked and they didn't seem to actually have anyone else to do the work.
I moved my main site away from AIT to Hostinger in early 2022. However, AIT continued to charge me for hosting the site. I was unable to get anyone stop the charges and to refund the improper ones. So, I had to have my credit card company get involved and return the improper charges to me.
In March of 2022, I instructed AIT to move my custom made special marketing website to Hostinger. However, I have not been able to get my website files from AIT. The next step unfortunately will be that I will now have to sue AIT to recover my website files for which I paid almost $5K to build.
Stay away. The company seems to have fallen apart. They have one guy, Richard, that answers the phone (if anyone does at all) in customer service. I think he's the only guy that actually works there--but out of his home, since a dog sometimes barks in the background.
AIT was a miserable experience.
